Nothing but you, Lord!
In preparing for this week's Bible study (Lesson 7b - "Word Made Flesh, True Bread of Heaven: The Mystery of the Liturgy & the Eucharist"), I couldn't resist encouraging each of us to take up the challenge/invitation of Question 6, for Understanding: "If possible, spend some time before the Blessed Sacrament in prayer. Consider reading and reflecting on the words of St. Thomas Aquinas: 'I will have nothing except you.'" (If you haven't read about the origin of the quote, look to the first paragraph on the top of pg. 11 in Lesson 7.) Isn't it a "coincidence" ;-) that SJA just happens to be having Eucharistic Adoration tomorrow, Feb. 11, from 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. (second Monday of the month)!! How wonderful it would be to take this opportunity, this gift, as time to contemplate 'having nothing but the Lord' - what would that mean to each of us, personally? Look at it as preparation for Lent, beginning this Wednesday, Feb. 13. If you're not able to spend time in Adoration (keeping in mind that you may show up whenever you can and stay as long as you want), you are always welcome to stop by the office, any time of the year, (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.), ask for the keys to the church and go over before the Tabernacle to pray!!
